I've always loved Free People's use of fabrics and colour but the price point wasn't in my range when I first discovered them.

Fast forward a few years and I recently circled back to them now that I'm financially able to afford the odd piece. But now that in the last couple of years, many other fashion retailers have begun to engage models with varying body sizes, shapes and heights it's made them stick out like a sore thumb.

I feel completely alienated by their use of models and fits of clothing. All I can see are tall, lithe women on there and really don't feel represented at all. I look at pieces and assume they won't look quite as good on me because I'm not 5ft9 with super long legs. This whole article makes me think of the embracing of sneakers and trainers. Scores of women bored of teetering around in heels and all in favour of some comfort and agility!
